WRU asked to report to World Rugby over North 'concussion'
World Rugby are seeking WRU confirmation that 'all concussion protocols were appropriately followed' after reports Wales player George North was left 'dazed' during last night's Six Nations match between Wales and England, The organisation have requested a 'full report' from the WRU following an apparent head impact suffered by the winger during the game. North received medical attention twice during the match, leaving the field at one stage for medical attention.
In its latest injury bulletin, the WRU said that while North had passed medical protocols during the game and had shown 'no signs and symptoms' of concussion, he was now being managed as if he had suffered the condition following a review of video footage.
The decision to let North continue was questioned during the game by former international players on social media. Ex-England captain Will Carling tweeted during the match: “I really don’t think George North should still be on the pitch. He looks very dazed.” Prop Samson Lee also suffered concussion during the game and will be 'undertaking a graduated return to play protocol', according the the WRU statement. Dan Biggar (head cut) and Leigh Halfpenny (neck) are also being monitored ahead of next Sunday's trip to Scotland, but neither are thought to be doubts for the game.
