More than half a million people across the UK are expected to take part in this weekend's RSPB 'Big Garden Birdwatch.'

The event encourages people to watch and count their garden birds, in order to gather information on the changes in numbers of birds using our gardens in winter.

RSPB Cymru say people should watch how the birds use their garden, as well as watching the birds themselves.

Experts hope the event will help alert conservationists to those species in decline like house sparrows, greenfinches and starlings.

This weekend's event is part of the RSPB's 'Giving Nature a Home' campaign, aimed at tackling the housing crisis facing the UK's most threatened wildlife.
