Should the Tom Jones hit 'Delilah' be banned from rugby matches for glorifying domestic violence?
The Welsh Rugby Union has defended the song 'Delilah' after a campaign to ban it from Welsh rugby matches for glorifying domestic violence.
The song - a hit for Sir Tom Jones in 1968 - has become an unofficial anthem for Welsh rugby fans for decades.
Veteran folk singer and politician Dafydd Iwan said the song should be replaced because it depicts the brutal revenge killing of a woman.
Written by Barry Mason and Sylvan Whittingham, with music by Les Reed, the song earned Reed and Mason a 1968 Ivor Novello award.
The lyrics reference a scorned man stabbing a woman to death.
But the Welsh Rugby Union defended fans' rights to sing the song, saying it "has gained prominence through its musicality rather than because of its lyrics".
The organisation says it has record of condemning violence against woman.
