'Black Friday' frenzy sees police called to stores

Hundreds of shoppers squabbled to grab bargains at midnight in Tesco.

Police had to be called to a number of shops across Wales last night as the 'Black Friday' sales got underway.

Officers were brought in to Tesco stores in Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil, after reports of clashes between customers wanting to bag themselves a bargain.

'Black Friday' is a tradition from America, which has caught on in the UK, and become the busiest day of the year - with shoppers looking for generous discounts.

Today has also increased football on Welsh high streets, with independent stores as well as big chains looking to cash in on Christmas.
