The family of schoolgirl April Jones say they do not want the site of her killer's former home - dubbed the 'House from Hell' - to become a memorial garden now that it has been demolished.

Mount Pleasant cottage in Ceinws, near Machynlleth, was the rented home of Mark Bridger, who abducted and murdered April two years ago.

It is believed he killed the five-year-old there, though her body has never been found.

Mount Pleasant was bought by the Welsh Government last August - for a sum believed to be around £149,000 - with officials promising to destroy it in line with the family's wishes.

Today Coral and Paul Jones, along with April's siblings Jazmin and Harley, were there to witness the final stages of its demolition after work began last week.

The family, joined by locals, choked back tears as the cottage was razed to the ground and told ITV News of their relief that the 'constant reminder' would no longer be there.
