Jonjo Shelvey has talked of his pride after becoming the first Swansea City player to be called up to the full England squad.

The 22 year-old midfielder has been on impressive form for the Swans helping them to 5th place in the Premier League.

Shelvey told the club's web site:

Hodgson was in the stands at the Liberty recently to watch the Swans 1-0 defeat to Southampton and it seems Shelvey impressed enough to earn his first call up since his one and only England cap won during a 5-0 win over San Marino in 2012.

The England manager has admitted he's been impressed with Shelvey's form, saying the former Charlton and Liverpool star has earned his place in his squad.

Shelvey is part of Swans boss Garry Monk's squad for the home Premier Leauge match with Newcastle on Saturday before he'll meet up with the rest of the England squad next week.
