Shelvey in on merit says England boss Hodgson
Swansea City's Jonjo Shelvey has been included in Roy Hodgson's England squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia next week.
The 22 year-old midfielder has been in fine form for the Swans, scoring one goal in six appearances this season.
Hodgson was in the stands at the Liberty Stadium recently to watch Shelvey during Swansea's Premier League defeat to Southampton.
Shelvey won his one and only England cap during a 5-0 win against San Marino in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley in 2012.
There was disappointment for Shelvey's team mates Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer who have both been tipped to represent their country after Swansea City's impressive start to the season.
England Manager Roy Hodgson said:
England face back-to-back home qualifiers against San Marino on Thursday before taking on Estonia three days later.
