Halfpenny's Toulon contract could be terminated
Wales star Leigh Halfpenny could have his contract at French Top 14 club Toulon terminated due to ongoing injury problems.
Halfpenny announced in January he was moving to Toulon from Cardiff Blues this summer on a lucrative two-year contract.
Although the 25 year-old goalkicking full-back, who was British and Irish Lions player of the series against Australia, has yet to play for his new club.
He suffered a dislocated shoulder during Wales' RBS 6 Nations defeat against England in March and underwent surgery ahead of an anticipated four month lay-off. Now the 52 times capped Halfpenny is struggling with a groin injury.
The often outspoken Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal told French newspaper Varmatin there is a thought Halfpenny might have been injured when he signed for Toulon.
Toulon this week announced the signing of star Argentina back Juan Martin Hernandez.
If Halfpenny's contract was terminated then it would raise the possibility of him returning to Wales on a dual contract partly-funded by the Welsh Rugby Union.
