A set of identical triplets from Pontypool have colour-coded toenails so their parents know which baby is which.

Parents Karen and Ian Gilbert say it's the only way to tell the three girls apart.

Baby Ffion has fuchsia polish on her toenails, Maddison has mint green and Paige wears purple.

The first letter of each baby's name and the first letter of the shade of nail polish also match - giving an added level of security against any misidentification.

But Karen and Ian hope as the little girls get older they will develop individual looks and personalities to help them tell one from another.

The trio were conceived naturally from one egg with odds of 160,000-1, according to the Multiple Births Foundation.

Ffion, Maddison and Paige, weighing 3lb 8oz, 3lb 5oz and 3lb 4oz, were delivered via emergency caesarean section two months early.
