£1.3m Porthmadog Harbour station opens to serve the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways

The new station was built by volunteers and local contractors over three winters

It's cost more than a million pounds to build - and taken three years to complete.

Today saw the opening of Wales's newest train station.

Local schoolchildren and tourists have been among the first to use the Porthmadog Harbour station, which was built with the help of volunteers.

As well as a new platform there's also a new signal box to deal with all the extra traffic coming past the station.

The railway attract almost half a million visitors a year to this part of North Wales, so it plays a big part in fuelling the local economy.
