From Hero to Zero !

Ah !How lovely to see our Assembly members back from their hols and looking so bright eyed and eager. First Minister's questions was quite lively today with party leaders keen for a scrap.

Leanne Wood was concerned about where the FM stood on zero hours contracts especially in the area of social care.

It sounds a perfectly reasonable request, doesn't it ? But the First Minister grew testy.

He had this to say.

And so the argument rumbled on in a rumbley sort of way.

When it came to Andrew RT Davies's turn , the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives wanted to know if the First Minister was still pledging an improvement for the younger generation in terms of their Educational standards as measured by the steely gaze of the PISA results table where the kids were a bit lacking the last time round.

But the FM was more interested in the leak from this morning's Tory presser in which RT spelled out to the enthralled pack of Hacks and a hackette that he wasn't in this for the sake of it. Oh No! Certainly not, he had a business to go back to. Farmer Davies only became a politician to make a difference !

Er, how much of a difference would you say?

So what did Carwyn have to say about that ?

The Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Kirsty Williams was perhaps the most focused and determined today. ,forensically quizzing the FM about his record on the health service , particularly that of critical care beds in our hospitals.

Kirsty Williams said that only yesterday , the Royal College of Anaestheticians warned that a lack of critical care beds was forcing clinicians to either choose to cancel operations including those for cancer patients or to proceed with surgery without the appropriate critical care bed.

She wanted to know from the FM if Local Health Boards had published their Annual reports into critical care? And of so, were these reports available to the public ?

The FM replied that they should have been published by now and should be available to the Public. But a doubtful Kirsty asked if he could check..Watch this space!
