Inquest hears teenager Georgia Marshall was electrocuted as she helped with Christmas decorations
An inquest in Cardiff has heard how a teenage girl was electrocuted as she helped her father bring Christmas decorations down from the attic.
Georgia Marshall, 13, was holding a metal step ladder into the loft at the family home in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan when she received a 240 volt electric shock.
The inquest was told how the aluminium ladder had an extension cable wrapped around it carrying power up to a light bulb in the attic. Insulation around the cable had become worn. A live wire was exposed, causing Georgia to become electrocuted.
Assistant Coroner Christopher Woolley told the inquest that Georgia had died "almost instantly". The inquest concluded Georgia's death was accidental.
