It was a grey and grizzly day at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea but the fans turned out in force to support their team in the New Year's day joust with Manchester City . And although the Swans went down 2-3 to Man City who now go top of the premier league , the fans weren't daunted and were in good voice singing and dancing in the rain.

But it was Wilfried Bony who set the jack army's hearts a flutter with an equaliser just before half time levelling the score at one all given hope for the second half, the opponents goal being scored by Fernandinho.

Yaya Toure restored the visitors lead after half time with Aleksandar Kolorov firing home a third.

Despite another late Swans goal again from Bony , there was never any real hope of sealing the game off in a draw

Wilfried Bony came in for a fair bit of praise from Laudrup, not just because of scoring the two goals but because the manager believes he had now made the transition to the premier league's style of playing

Man City are certainly no easy side to beat but their Manager Manuel Pellegrini who took over from Roberto Mancini last summer had praise for the Swans

Swansea City next play Manchester United away in the FA Cup on Sunday with Pablo Hernandez injured in today's first half. After that the Swans again play Man U in the Premier League away on Saturday January 11th
