Sharp End 9th May 2013
The Queen's Speech is our starting point for this week's Sharp End. I've been interviewing the Welsh Secretary David Jones about what will be in the Draft Wales Bill announced in the speech. In fact we speak as much about what's NOT in it because I wanted to know why tax powers recommended by the Silk Commission aren't included.
I also asked him about the UK Government's plans to limit migrants' access to the NHS because the NHS is devolved to Wales but immigration policy is not. He seems pretty sure that whatever new rules are introduced will apply to the Welsh NHS. We've been speaking to some who aren't so certain.
Staying with health, we look at problems facing the ambulance service here in Wales.
My studio guests this week are two politicians and an entrepreneur. The entrepreneur is also a former Conservative candidate, Shazia Awan and the politicians are Ann Jones AM, who chairs the Labour Assembly group and Kirsty Williams, the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats.
