A new training and competition venue for Welsh target shooters, that rivals the best in the world, has opened in the capital.

The £100,000 project has been jointly developed by managing body Sport Wales and the Welsh Target Shooting federation and it's hoped it will provide Welsh shooters with a facility that supersedes even those used for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.

The six lane facility is the only one of it's kind in the country and has been fitted with state-of-the-art laser target equipment necessary for elite competition.

National coach John Dallimore commented: "This is the highest specification facility we've ever had in Wales. With the next generation laser equipment that's been purchased I would say it's a more impressive facility than was used for the Olympic and Paralympic competition."
