Ospreys Managing Director Mike Cuddy has stepped down from his role in running the day-to-day affairs of the region.

The businessman was in charge of the region when rugby went regional in 2003.

Cuddy was one of the original architects of the revolution in Welsh rugby, which saw clubs reduced to five, then four regions.

Former Wales fitness coach Andrew Hore, now Ospreys Chief Operations Officer, and Roger Blythe will take charge of the organisation's affairs from now on.

In a statement, the region said they wanted to thank Mike Cuddy for the efforts he's put in since the region's formation. It added that the changes will lay the foundations for a 'more stable and prosperous future.'
