Be prepared despite flood defence schemes, experts warn
Experts are warning people living in areas where flood defence schemes have been built not to be complacent.
They say residents should be aware that freak weather can still happen, despite the work that's been carried out - and that flooding is always a risk.
Sea defences at Tywyn in Gwynedd were completed last year at a cost of just over £7.5m. The aim is give protection to around 80 properties identified as being at risk.
But flooding can still happen - not necessarily from the sea - which is why an exhibition has been held in the town to encourage people to be aware of flooding risks.
