First Minister joins druids
First Minister Carwyn Jones has been made a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards. During a ceremony at the National Eisteddfod he was received in the blue druidic robes worn by those recognised for their achievements in law, science, sports, journalism, media, and local or national activities. The First Minister's fellow new honorary druids include rugby's Shane Williams and the footballer John Hartson.
The First Minister has adopted the bardic name Carwyn Aman Ogwr, reflecting his family's roots in the Amman Valley and the River Ogmore in his Bridgend constituency.
