Royal Mail issues Sunday stamps for first time after Tom James success
Another special postage stamp has been produced overnight to celebrate Wrexham rower Tom James and Team GB's win in the men's four final yesterday.
It's the ninth gold medal stamp to be issued by Royal Mail - and the first time that they've issued stamps on a Sunday.
Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas was yesterday commemorated with his picture on a stamp after he helped Great Britain to a win in the men's team pursuit on Friday.
The stamps are available to buy at around 500 Post Offices branches across the UK.
A second Royal Mail post box has also been painted from red to gold in Wrexham in honour of Tom James.
The painting took more than four hours and included a yellow undercoat and four coatings of metallic gold paint.
Toby Webbern, who was tasked with the painting, said covering the post box in gold paint rather than red was 'very strange, to say the least', but added that he thought it would mean a lot for the people of Wrexham.
Red has been the standard colour for UK boxes from 1874, with few exceptions.
Yesterday a post box was painted gold for Olympic cycling champion Geraint Thomas in his home town of Cardiff.
