Wrexham rower Tom James scoops second gold for Wales
Wales has scooped its second gold medal as Wrexham rower Tom James helped Team GB to win the men's four at Eton Dorney.
James, along with Andrew Triggs Hodge, Pete Reed and Alex Gregory, led from the start. The British boat finished the course in 6 minutes 3.97 seconds - ahead of the Australian and United States crews, who took silver and bronze respectively.
It extends Britain's dominance over the Olympic event to 16 years.
James, Hodge and Reed are all now double Olympic champions, having been part of the victorious crew in Beijing. Olympic debutant Gregory adds an Olympic gold medal to the world championship title he won as part of a different men's four crew last year.
First Minister Carwyn Jones AM says Tom James' contribution is an 'outstanding achievement' of which Wales is 'very proud'.
Yesterday Geraint Thomas became the first Welsh athlete to win a gold medal at the London Games.
The 26-year-old Cardiff cyclist helped his colleagues win the men's Team Pursuit against Australia, setting a new world record time in the process.
Despite a strong performance this morning triathlete Helen Jenkins did not manage to secure a medal, coming in fifth.
