David Wyn Jones, 42, has pleaded guilty to killing his wife and 2-year-old son.

At a hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court today, the Crown Prosecution Service accepted his two pleas of manslaughter, on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Suzanne Marie Jones, 34, and the couple's son William were found dead at their home in Pwllgoleulas, near Tremadog on Friday 30th March.

Mr Jones' defence barrister Simon Mills said he was a husband of previous good character with no history of violence towards his wife or son.

But he said there was significant evidence that the defendant had been suffering from a "delusional disorder" in the run up to the killings.

Wearing a light blue shirt and black tie, Mr Jones cried as he entered his guilty pleas, and was asked to repeat himself in order to be understood.

Judge Merfyn Hughes QC said he appreciated the difficulty CPS would have had accepting pleas of manslaughter, given the "enormous tragedy" that took place four months ago.

He told the defendant sentencing would take place in September, and said all options were open.
