Tributes to Dr Jack Matthews
Tributes are being paid to the Former Wales and British & Irish Lions centre Dr Jack Matthews who has died at the age of 92.
Matthews won 17 caps for Wales and captained the team against France in Paris in 1951.
He played six Tests for the Lions earning the nickname 'Iron Man' for his crash tackling.
Known widely as Dr Jack, the player was part of a legendary Welsh midfield partnership with Bleddyn Williams.
Born in Bridgend, Matthews attended Bridgend County School before training to be a doctor at the Welsh National School of Medicine.
Before winning his first cap, Matthews took part in five Victory Internationals for Wales, including a win over France in which he was captain.
Today, tributes have been paid to a true legend of the game.
