Welsh football acts in sporting talent show
Tonight's the final of ITV sporting talent show 'Let's Get Gold'. The competition's featured two Welsh acts who play the same sport - in very different ways. They've been trying to impress a judging panel which includes star footballer Rio Ferdinand.
Goal'den Oldies proved football's not just a young man's game in Thursday night's heats. Most of them are over 60, and sported Wales kits on the programme.
The group - of 14 players, 2 coaches and a manager - was assembled by John Herniman. A former Cardiff City trainee as a teenager, he broke his leg at 17, putting a halt to a promising career. He has since coached a number of local teams, and five years ago started the Wales Veterans Football League. It now has 800 members, spanning across South Wales. John lives with his wife in Penarth and doesn't play himself, but lead the choreographing of the routine and was in London to see the others perform.
Despite winning approval from the judges, Goal'den Oldies weren't voted through to the final of the competition. Picking up the baton for the Welsh game, though, is 23-year-old freestyle footballer Ash Randall from Cardiff. He's competing as part of the four-strong SBX Football team, whose heat is on Saturday night, before the final.
Ash has enjoyed the tricks rather than the 11-a-side game from a young age, and has taken his talent from the bedroom to the big stage, making a career out of showing off his skills.
