Coleman: I hope GB don't make it to Olympic final
Wales Manager Chris Coleman says he hopes Team GB don't make it to the latter stages of the London Olympics so he can spend more time with his squad ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying warm-up game against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The Olympic final would come just four days before that meeting, which will be Coleman's last opportunity to assess his squad before they begin their qualifying campaign for the Brazil 2014 World Cup on September 7th.
When asked if he would like GB to make the final he had one simple answer: "No"
"I want to see our players doing well, representing Great Britain, the Welsh players that are there of course, but the selfish side of me, of all of us is saying God forbid nothing happens.
"Touch wood it won't and they'll be fine, but four days after the final we've got a game.
"It's not ideal"
The Welsh FA, like their counterparts in Scotland and Ireland, have been staunchly against any of their players taking part in the all-UK side for fear it could cause FIFA to take away their individual national identity.
But FIFA President Sepp Blatter has ruled out any such move.
Coleman also revealed he has had in-depth discussions with GB manager Stuart Pearce over which of his players he may want to take.
"He'll possibly take three of four, possibly.
"The bottom line is the decision will be his and into that there is nothing we can do"
