Porthmadog arrest after mother and son found dead
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman and child in North Wales.
Police were called to the house at Glanmorfa Terrace in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, at 9.20pm on Friday and the two were declared dead at the scene.
They've been named locally as mother-of-three Suzanne Jones, believed to be 40, and her three-year-old son William.
North Wales Police said a man in his 40s was arrested at the scene. A spokesman for the force said officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Officers are supporting the family as investigators remain at the house.
Neighbours have been speaking of their disbelief that something like this could have happened in their quiet community.
Arthur Edwards, a retired factory worker who lives two doors from the house on Glanmorfa Terrace, said: "They kept themselves to themselves, as people do nowadays.
"I only fully found out what happened at 8.30 this morning when I received a text message and came out and asked."
David Thomas, 66, from the nearby village of Penmorfa, said he had known the mother all her life.
"She was born in this house here, and she was a lovely girl who fitted into the community," he said.
"You could not wish for a better full-time mother with the children."
Friends and neighbours are already placing tributes outside the house.
Police are asking anyone in the vicinity of Glanmorfa Terrace on Friday evening or anyone who may have any information regarding this incident to contact them on 101.
