Cardiff strive to get back in play-off places
Cardiff City host Millwall in the Championship today. Both clubs are desperate for points - but at opposite ends of the table. The Bluebirds are outside of the play-off zone on goal difference, with seven games of the regular season remaining. Of course, they'll be hoping for three more at the end of it - climaxing with another trip to Wembley. As for the visitors, they're down in 19th in the second-tier table, only five points above the relegation zone.
After an excellent home run earlier in the season, Malky Mackay's men have only taken two points from their last three league games at the Cardiff City Stadium. The fact that they're still in play-off contention depends to a great deal on the struggles of their rivals, who have also been dropping points recently. The Bluebirds' captain Mark Hudson, who's due to play his 100th game for the club today, warns they can't keep relying on the misfortune of those around them.
Swansea City face a trip to North London on Sunday. Tottenham are the hosts, with football's knack of mischievous coincidence meaning Swans boss Brendan Rodgers is plotting the downfall of the side which - so the papers say - he will be managing next season. Spurs are still in line to qualify for the Champions League, while Swansea are a draw away from the magical '40 point' Premier League survival mark. A top-half finish must surely now be their target, though.
Both of our Blue Square Bet Premier clubs are in action on Saturday afternoon. Wrexham - still aiming to close the gap on league leaders Fleetwood - have a tricky trip to Cambridge. Newport County have slipped back towards the relegation places in recent weeks. They're desperate for points at home against Gateshead.
