Man shot at by masked gang in Dungannon
A 30-year-old man has been shot at by a masked gang in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
The man was approached by four men wearing balaclavas as he was walking in the Fairmount Estate towards Ballygawley Road at around 12.30am on Friday.
The gang threatened him before one of them fired a shot at him.
The man was not injured in the incident and he escaped along the Ballygawley Road.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Dominic Molloy commented: “There seems to have been recent disturbances and an element of criminality and intimidation in the estate in recent months,” he said.
“It is surprising because there hasn’t been any instances of escalation of incidents actually using firearms.
“We would totally condemn any element of intimidation or attacks on anyone in the estate and we call on anyone involved to get off the backs of the people in the estate because the vast majority are totally opposed to your actions.”
The assailants are described as being approximately 6ft tall, dressed in dark clothing.
Police are appealing for information and have asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them in Cookstown on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
