Local councillor Brendan Smith described it as a "pure, pure tragedy."
Speaking to UTV, he said: "The family are in the area approximately 10 years.
"Both the parents and indeed the children play football in the local GAA club – they’re quite well known in the area.
They were involved in all that is good in the community.
"It’s total disbelief by the neighbours I’ve spoken to, they can’t get their heads around that something like this can happen.
"There’s a sense of disbelief and numbness in the people of the area over these five terrible deaths.”
