Police have said it is now believed four men, rather than three, were involved in the shooting outside a hotel in Belleek on Tuesday morning.
The gang, wearing dark coloured overalls with white stripes and balaclavas, threatened staff at the Main Street premises before firing one shot into a contractor’s van.
No-one was injured.
Police appealed for information as a cross-border investigation continues, following the discovery of a burned-out car thought to be linked to the incident.
Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson added: “The men made off in a black coloured Ford Escort car in the direction of the border.
“A car matching the description was discovered on fire a short time later in the Derrynacross Road area of Garrison where it is believed that the four males then left in a second unknown vehicle.
“Local officers are continuing to work closely with An Garda Siochana to trace their movements.”
The UK's top civil servant has announced he is standing down from the position.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jason Martin, who was stabbed to death in the Ballykeel area of Ballymena.
The family of Noah Donohoe have paid moving tribute to the 14-year-old, while thanking those who supported them during his disappearance.
