Grandmother begs for update on missing grandson John George

The elderly grandmother of a man who is missing in Spain has begged anyone with information to reveal what has happened to her grandson.

A search team has been flown out to look for missing Belfast man John George. His family believe he has been murdered and secretly buried.

The father of two was supposed to fly back to Northern Ireland on 18 December but he never made the flight. No one has had any contact with him since 14 December.

John George's 92-year-old grandmother, Sally, issued a heartfelt plea at a vigil on New Year's Eve.

She said: "It would be the most important thing in my whole life to get John home. I don't care what state he is in or anything. Get him home to us. We love him."

"It has been a living nightmare. You are waiting on a phone call, hoping for one and then hoping not to get one. You don't know what you want our lives are on hold in every way.

"Eating, sleeping, trying to socialise, life is on hold until he comes home."

Volunteer teams, search experts and canines have joined the search for John George in Spain.

In Northern Ireland, the PSNI has allocated a family liaison officer and are assisting Spanish forces with their enquiries.
