Two killed in separate road crashes in Northern Ireland

Two people have died following separate road crashes.

A man aged in his 40s died after a collision in Beragh, Co Tyrone on Monday morning, and a woman in her 20s died in a crash in Co Fermanagh on Monday night.

She has been named as Amy Stokes from Ballyconnell in Co Cavan.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Amy’s family have asked the Police Service to pass on that they are devastated by her loss, and that she will be sorely missed by her family and friends."

Five people have now died on Northern Ireland's roads in just five days.

Police said they received a report after 7.50am on Monday that a lorry had crashed in the Moylagh Road area of Beragh.

The lorry driver, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Moylagh Road, which was closed for a period of time following the collision, has since re-opened.

Police have appeared to anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage of the crash to come forward.

Separately a woman aged in her 20s died following a single-vehicle crash in the Ballyconnell Road area of Derrylin shortly after 10.50pm on Monday.

“Officers attended, alongside our colleagues from partner emergency services," a PSNI spokesperson said.

"Sadly, a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

“The Ballyconnell Road has now reopened after being closed overnight.

“Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries."
