Two men remanded into custody over murder of nurse Karen Cummings in Banbridge

Two men charged with the murder of Karen Cummings in Banbridge at the weekend have been remanded in custody. The mother of two was found unconscious with a serious head injury at a house in the Laurel Heights area of Banbridge on Saturday evening but sadly died at the scene.It's understood the nurse had been shot. Kevin Paul McGuigan, 42, of Annacloy park Hillsborough faces a number of charges including murder and possession of a firearm, a double barrel shot gun.

Glenn Robert King, 32, with no fixed abode but from the Lurgan area is also accused of the 40-year-old's murder.

Both men appeared at Newry Magistrates' Court via video link from Musgrave police station in Belfast. In grey tracksuits and handcuffs they replied "yes" when asked if they understood the charges against them. Details of what happened were not revealed in court but a detective constable told the court he could connect the men to the charges. No application for bail was made. The pair will appear again via video link on the 9th January.
