Community left in shock after woman dies in Portadown house fire

The Portadown community has been left in shock following the death of a woman in a house fire in the Co Armagh town.

Police and emergency services have been in the Church Street area since the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Upper Bann DUP MP Carla Lockhart said she understood the woman had died in a house fire.

Portadown Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Duffy has expressed his shock and sadness. He said: "The news of this woman’s death has shocked the town and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. “A police investigation into the circumstances of this tragic death is ongoing, and I would call for anyone with information which would assist police enquiries to come forward.”
