Chris Heaton-Harris reappointed as Northern Ireland Secretary
Chris Heaton-Harris has been reappointed as secretary of state for Northern Ireland.
The move was confirmed by Downing Street on Tuesday, and comes as part of new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Heaton-Harris has served in the role since 6 September.
During his time in Northern Ireland, the former chairman of the European Research Group has repeatedly called for the restoration of power-sharing at Stormont.
He says he will call an Assembly election if an Executive is not restored by Friday.
The institutions are currently not operating as the DUP continues to protest against the post-Brexit Northern Ireland Protocol.
MLAs will be recalled to the Assembly on Thursday for a final bid to try and appoint new ministers, however the DUP has described the move as a "stunt".
Sinn Fein MLA Michelle O'Neill said she will be meeting with the reappointed secretary of state in Belfast on Wednesday.
"Restoration of the Executive is the number one priority to help workers and families," she added in a tweet.
