GP practices in Northern Ireland to close on Monday, 19 September for Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral

Northern Ireland's Department of Health has confirmed GP surgeries will shut on Monday, 19 September to mark the bank holiday for Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral.

The majority of community pharmacies will also be closed and a rota will be in place.

Bank holiday arrangements for health and social care services are detailed below:

Hospital services

On Monday 19 September 2022, the Trusts will be operating enhanced Bank Holiday services in order to reduce the impact on patients and service users.

Trusts will be offering a range of services in addition to those ordinarily provided on a Bank Holiday.

This means they will try to maintain as many scheduled inpatient, day case and diagnostics services as possible with priority given to those people with greatest clinical need.

Chemotherapy sessions will also be maintained.

Trusts are to contact people regarding changes to their treatments or care.

For urgent eye problems on Monday 19 September 2022, the public is asked to contact their local Optometrist in the first instance.
