Man beaten with sledgehammers in Broughshane assault

A man has been beaten with sledgehammers in what police say was a “sustained and brutal assault” in the Co Antrim village of Broughshane.

It happened after two men forced their way into a house in the Rocavan Meadow area shortly after 2am on Sunday.

The victim, aged in his 20s, suffered injuries to his face and ankle.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish a motive for the attack.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Lyttle said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area last night and saw what occurred, or who has information that may assist our investigation.”
