Man, 18, charged with murder after Ballymena stabbing

An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jason Martin, who was stabbed to death in the Ballykeel area of Ballymena.

The 31-year-old victim, a father-of-two, was found dead in a house at Orkney Drive in the early hours of Saturday.

A host of tributes have been paid online to the young man, who was a keen amateur footballer and well-known in the local community.

Flowers have also been laid at the scene, where the property has been boarded up.

The 18-year-old charged by the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court via video-link on Monday.
