Outpouring of sympathy after father and brother drown while fishing in Donegal

There has been an outpouring of sympathy for a teenage boy who witnessed his father and brother drown while fishing in Donegal.

They had been on an angling trip to a lake near Letterkenny when the tragedy happened.

Their bodies were recovered from Lough Keel on Thursday afternoon around 3pm.

The man is believed to be in his 50s, while the teenager is aged 17.

A 15 year-old boy survived and was found in a distressed state by workers from a nearby pumping station.Both victims are German nationals and have a holiday home in the area.

Rescue teams took part in the search and recovery operation.

The teenage boy was rescued and received treatment in Letterkenny University Hospital.

Post-mortems are expected to take place on Friday.
