Four arrests in Kevin Lunney abduction probe
Four people have been arrested by police investigating the abduction of Co Fermanagh businessman Kevin Lunney.
The 50-year-old Quinn Industrial Holdings executive was savagely beaten after being taken from outside his home near Derrylin and transported across the border last September.
The PSNI says two men aged 23 and 61, and a 61-year-old woman, were detained in the Fermanagh area on Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and assisting offenders.
They have been taken into custody at Omagh police station, where they are being questioned by detectives.
Meanwhile a man in his 30s has been arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the abduction and assault for an offence contrary to section 72 Criminal Justice Act 2006.
He is currently detained at Cavan Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Julie Mullan said: "The arrests today show the close working partnership between the PSNI and An Garda Síochána and our determination to bring those responsible for this heinous crime before the courts.”
Garda Chief Superintendent John O Reilly said: "Today’s arrests demonstrate An Garda Síochána’s ongoing commitment, working closely with the PSNI, and is a further significant step to ensuring that the perpetrators of this vicious attack will be brought to justice.”
