Warrenpoint Town’s goalkeeper involved in brawl during Irish Cup match
Warrenpoint Town’s goalkeeper was involved in a brawl that broke out at the end of the team’s match against Ballymena United on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Mark Byrne was caught up in the incident which started in the stands.
Punches were thrown before the fight spilt onto the field.
On Friday the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) had released a statement calling for “a safe and respectful environment for everyone to enjoy football” in response to an increase in alleged incidents of “unacceptable” behaviour this season.
Warrenpoint Town FC have been contacted for comment.
