DUP's Diane Dodds to become Upper Bann MLA
The DUP's veteran European Parliament member Diane Dodds is to become an MLA for Upper Bann.
Ms Dodds, who has served two terms in Brussels, will take over the seat from newly elected MP Carla Lockhart.
Her husband, Nigel Dodds, lost his seat in North Belfast to Sinn Féin's John Finucane.
Ms Dodds said: "I look forward to taking up my duties representing the people of Upper Bann in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
"Carla has been a first class advocate for the constituency. I will be working with the DUP team in Upper Bann to build on her reputation for delivery.
"After the United Kingdom exits the European Union, I will no longer be an MEP and will be a dedicated full time representative for the people of Upper Bann."
DUP leader Arlene Foster congratulated Ms Dodds adding that she will bring 'a wealth of experience' to the role'.
