No peace for murder victim’s family until body found
The family of Charlotte Murray, the Co Tyrone woman murdered by her ex-fiancé, fear the killer will never tell them the whereabouts of her body.
Just days ago, 48-year-old John Millar, from Redford Park in Dungannon, was found guilty of killing Charlotte and concealing her body.
“We just want Charlotte home,” her twin sister Denise told UTV.
“We want to lay her to rest – we want to give her a decent burial.”
Charlotte vanished without a trace seven years ago.
With Millar’s conviction, the family may finally have justice – but without being able to say a proper goodbye to Charlotte, they cannot find peace.
“I think he might keep it to himself,” another of Charlotte’s sisters, Emma, said, vocalising the family’s worst fears that Miller will not speak up with information about where Charlotte’s body is.
“But hopefully he comes forward and just tells us where he is.”
The family are now campaigning for a change in legislation in Northern Ireland.
They want Charlotte’s Law to be introduced, denying parole for murderers who refuse to reveal the location of their victims’ bodies.
For now though, all they can do is appeal to Charlotte’s killer to tell them where she is and desperately home that, one day, they will be able to bring her home.
Her mum Mary says only that would give them closure.
