UTV’s Pride of Britain winner for 2019 revealed
A mum whose heartache at losing two of her children has been channelled into making life brighter for other seriously ill young people is our Pride of Britain 2019 winner.
Gaye Kerr has helped hundreds of families through the charity Angel Wishes, set up in memory of her daughter Helen – who died in 2005, aged just three-and-a-half – and her twin Brian, who died seven years later.
Both children sadly passed away from unrelated bone marrow disorders.
Gaye now works tirelessly to ensure Angel Wishes supports families affected by cancer-related conditions, aiming to bring some normality back to the lives of children isolated by illness.
Faced with four Pride of Britain nominees who all make a real difference in their communities, the judging panel were faced with a tough decision.
However, as a very worthy winner, Gaye will now be going to the star-studded awards ceremony in London – with UTV’s Paul Reilly breaking the news at Belfast International Airport as she returned home from a little break.
