Five people have been arrested after more than 100 wraps of heroin worth nearly £3,000 were found by police in Lisburn.

Officers say they carried out a drugs search in the city after spotting people acting suspiciously in the Sprucefield area at about 7.30pm on Sunday.

A total of 109 heroin wraps were seized, plus cash worth another nearly £3,000.

Two men, aged 23 and 25, and a 33-year-old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of a number of offences, including possession and possession with intent to supply.

Follow-up searches at properties in north and south Belfast uncovered smaller amounts of Class A and Class B drugs.

A number of other items were also seized, including mobile phones, documents, a computer and £200 in cash.

PSNI Inspector Sayers said: “A 24-year-old male was arrested following the search in south Belfast and a 46-year-old male was arrested in north Belfast.

“Once again, I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about illegal drugs or drug dealing in their area to contact local police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
