Body found in search for mum missing from hen party

Gardaí say a body has been found in the search for young mum-of-three Ruth Maguire, who went missing from a hen party in Carlingford, Co Louth.

The 30-year-old - understood to be from Belfast originally, but who had been living in Newcastle in Co Down - was last seen at about 11.30pm on Saturday night.

She had been with a large group of friends as part of celebrations for a forthcoming wedding, but became separated from them.

A major search operation was launched when the rest of the hen party failed to find her.

However, on Monday afternoon, gardaí confirmed that a body believed to be Ms Maguire had been found in the water at Carlingford Lough.

A spokesperson said the search had now been stood down.
