Man, 30s, attacked in Belfast city centre

A man is recovering after he was attacked by two men in Belfast citycentre in the early hours of Sunday.

The victim, who is aged in his 30s, was assaulted in the Donegall Place East area at around 3.10am.

He was treated in hospital for facial injuries.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Alan Swann described the attackers as being aged in their late teens or early 20s, and of slim build.

"One of the suspects is described as having long, unkempt hair and wore awhite baggy, long-sleeve T-shirt, green/khaki baggy trousers and white shoes," he said.

"The second suspect is described as having short hair and wore a dark-coloured flowery T-shirt, dark skinny trousers and light-coloured trainers. The second suspect may also have worn or carried a yellow hooded top or jacket.

"I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the assault, or who knows anything about this incident, to get in touch with us.

"I am also particularly keen to identify a witness who is believed to havefilmed this incident on a camera phone."
