Fermanagh and Ulster University played out a 1-9 to 0-12 draw in Derrygonnelly on Saturday, as the McKenna Cup gets underway.

Ulster University were first to get on the scoreboard with a free from Lee Brennan, but Fermanagh then clocked up four points without reply to take the lead.

UU were denied a goal by a fine save from Fermanagh’s Thomas Treacy.

By the break, they trailed by three points, with Fermanagh in front by 0-8 to 0-5.

Early in the second half, Conall Jones provided a goal for the Ernemen to extend their lead.

While Brennan had a couple of great goal chances, UU couldn’t quite find their mark – however, the Trillick player certainly helped them rack up the points.

And it was yet another free from Brennan that was to tie the game, before four minutes of extra time failed to split the sides.

Sunday will see Armagh take on St Mary’s University in Crossmaglen.
