There were two derby ties amid the Co Antrim Shield quarter-final action, with Linfield taking on Glentoran and Crusaders facing Cliftonville.

At Windsor Park, Andy Mitchell’s penalty for the hosts after just three minutes was cancelled out by John Herron’s equaliser.

And after the usually reliable Andy Waterworth uncharacteristically missed a spot kick, the match was finely poised.

But the former Glensman was able to make amends in extra time – firing the Blues into the semi-finals when he hit the crossbar, but tucked in the rebound.

Defending champions Crusaders came out on top in a seven-goal thriller at Seaview.

Declan Caddell drew first blood for the Crues, while Rory Donnelly then provided Cliftonville’s equaliser.

The second half saw Michael Carvill put the hosts back in front, but their opponents again found a reply – this time through Ryan Curran.

Cliftonville went ahead with another Donnelly goal in extra time, only for Philip Lowry to make it 3-3 after 99 minutes.

However, Jamie Glackin’s goal proved to be the decider and sealed the win for the Crues.

Meanwhile, Ballymena proved too strong for Ballyclare Comrades in their game at the Showgrounds.

Three unanswered first-half goals were more than enough to put the Sky Blues through.

Ryan Mayse scored the opener in just the second minute of the game, while there was also a penalty from Leroy Millar, before Cathair Friel added the third.

And, at Inver Park, Larne secured their semi-final place with a 3-1 win over Ards.

Goals from Ben Tilney, David McDaid and Marty Donnelly gave the home side the win.

Ards had to settle for a consolation effort from Kym Nelson.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be held on Saturday.
