Viable pipe bomb device found in north Belfast

A security alert in the Stanhope Street area of north Belfast has now ended.

Police were called to the scene just before 1 o'clock on Saturday afternoon after a viable pipe bomb-type device was found.

A number of homes were evacuated while ATO examined the object.

The device has now been taken away for further forensic testing.

Residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.
