Man shot in both legs by masked gang in Derry

Police are treating this 'brutal attack' as a 'paramilitary style assault'.

A man in his 50s is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after he was shot in both legs by a masked gang.

The assault happened in the Brandywell road area of Londonderry on Friday night around 8:30pm.

When the man answered his front door, the group of men wearing gloves and dark clothing pushed him to the floor and shot twice in one leg and once in the other.

Police are treating this 'brutal attack' as a 'paramilitary style assault'.

Anyone who was in the Brandywell road area at the time and saw a number of men acting suspiciously is asked to get in touch with police.
